Take Action for Nondiscrimination Ordinances in Wake County and Raleigh!
Awesome news: This month leaders from the Wake County Commission and Raleigh City Council are set to discuss and vote on local ordinances that would protection people from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, natural hairstyle, and more in key areas of life (including public spaces and private employment).
The discussion for the draft ordinances will happen on Monday, October 11 in Wake County and Tuesday, October 12 in Raleigh. Now, we need your help: Leaders need to hear from you. There are a few ways to do that:
Sign Up to Testify in Support of the Raleigh Ordinance: To sign up to offer public comment in person or virtually in Raleigh, you must sign up by TODAY, Friday, October 8, at 5:00pm ET. Click here to sign up, and in the notes explain that you'd like to speak in support of the nondiscrimination ordinance. The City Council meeting is at 1pm on Tuesday.
On Monday, Sign Up to Testify in Support of the Wake County Ordinance: To sign up to offer public comment in person or virtually before the Wake County Commission, click here on Monday morning at 9am – you can sign up until the meeting begins at 2pm ET.
Send a Message to Your Elected Officials: This is also the time to flood City Council and County Commission with messages of support for the nondiscrimination ordinances. Use this tool to email Raleigh City Council and this tool to email Wake County Commission!
