Great news: Next week the Mecklenburg County Commission is set to discuss and vote on a local ordinance that would protection people from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, natural hairstyle, and more in key areas of life (including public spaces and private employment). Now, we need your help: The County Commission needs to hear from you during the public comment period! If you live in Mecklenburg County and are able to testify either virtually or in person, please do – your voice is so important here.
To sign up, just click here and fill out your information. The Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners will be in touch about testifying, whether in person or virtually! You must sign up by 2pm on Tuesday, October 5.
Opponents of LGBTQ-inclusive nondiscrimination ordinances have been sending messages to County Commissioners opposing the policy change, and it's up to us now to represent the true majority of North Carolinians who strongly support protecting people from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, natural hairstyle, and more.
